Objections make United Utilities rethink
Friends of Crummock met UU Principal Environmentalist Matt Buckley and Corporate Affairs lead Kate Stark last Thursday. Matt and Kate joined us at the weir to hear our concerns following a campaign that provoked hundreds of letters of objection to their proposals for Crummock.
Yesterday, UU confirmed that they were asking for more time to review their application. Stark said: we have requested an extension of time from the LDNPA which has been agreed. This means that it won’t be tabled in the July meeting.
There’s a lot of information to work through and we are in the process of collating all the responses and comments that have been submitted, and the team will now be in discussions with our design partners to scope out any additional work required and to respond to the objections made.”
The application has yet to receive the support of the Environment Agency who have expressed concerns over flood modelling. This means that the application will not be considered at the July meeting.
We will be monitoring the revisions closely.
