July deadline looms for Crummock

The decision to remove the weir and lower Crummock may be made as soon as July 2nd according to the Chair of the LDNP development control committee (aka planning) Mark Kidd.

Responding to our request for comment ain an earlier article, Mark said.

“Time limits for publicity and consultation on planning applications are set by law.  Although this is normally 21 days because the Crummock Water application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement this is extended to 30 days - that runs until 30 April.  We have agreed for Loweswater and Buttermere Parish Council to respond to us by 6 June – which is over twice the required time period.

We encourage members of the public to respond to us within the 30 day period wherever possible so that their comments can be taken into account and considered in the Case Officer’s written assessment and report to Development Control Committee.  However any comments received after the written report has been prepared but before decision will be noted in verbal summary to Committee.  The earliest the application would be considered by Committee will be 2 July.”

If you wish to comment on the application, Friends of Crummock have a QR code taking you directly to the planning portal or click this link.. Or you can email planning@lakedistrict.gov.uk quoting application number 7/2025/2052.
