Environment Agency reports Thirlmere at critical low for March

As United Utilities puts in planning permission to remove the reservoir infrastructure at Crummock water, the Environment Agency reports Cumbrian water levels at an all time low for March.

They reported Haweswater and Thirlmere, which supplies north-west England, was classed as exceptionally low for the time of year.

Homeowners in the North West are complaining that a project to remove the capacity to extract water from Crummock in an emergency could leave them without water. The are urging the National Park Planning department to reject the scheme.

Lack of water is a regular problem as the Keswick Reminder reported.
