Open AI reveals Environmental Cost

Our team are using artificial intelligence to analyse the construction proposals submitted by United Utilities with alarming results. AI pulls facts from documents and assembles them into reports.

CO2 Emmissions: The construction project alone is expected to release between 75-85 tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere in contravention of the National Park’s goals to achieve net zero emmissions. See the full CO2 Analysis here.

Construction Traffic: 640 heavy lorry movements down quiet country roads are required to remove the estimated 1,600 cubic metres of concrete, masonry and spoil. All traffic is expected to go through the narrows and Low Lorton.

Pollution: Continuous heavy machinery noise will replace the quiet tranquillity of the area with construction noise, vibration and airborne dust. 8-9,000 tonnes of concrete will be pulped on site.

We cant vouch for the accuracy of a supercomputer, but hope you will find it a helpful indication of the impact construction works will have.

My first stay the valley was a small tent in Sykes Field, Buttermere. That was in 1978! I’ve loved the mountains and Lake District ever since and consider myself very fortunate to live here now and enjoy them every day.
