Lake Volume Calculation
According to Stantec, the engineers commissioned to carry out the weir inspection in 2020 “the live storage capacity at maximum retention is about 3.4m cubic metres.” See p4 of their report.
The volume of water estimated to be stored above ground level (this is calculated as the bottom of the weir or 1.35m below the current level ) is 1,900,000 cubic metres. See Jacobs P170.
On that basis, the volume of water held in Crummock would drop from its current estimated 3.4m cubic metres to a new volume of 1.5m cubic metres. This is 44% of the current volume.
We have contacted the Environment Agency to validate this calculation. Update: They have promised a reply by 30th May 2025.
